This is Orthodyne's distinction. We are currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in our Engineering group. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This person will be working on design of Wire Bonder robotics at system level as well as components. Much of the design work will be based on satisfying the requirements of the Motion System. Due to the nature of R&D, this position will involve many aspects of engineering including CAD design, FEA analysis, testing and evaluation of prototypes in a lab and releasing parts for production to support our customers. The successful candidate will work with Pro/Engineer, Pro/Mechanica, Microsoft products, Labview, and various test equipment, in both the engineering office and the lab. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Engineering degree from a 4-year college with 2-7 years experience. This position can be scales to suite a candidate with established track record in control systems, or one with less experience but with specific training and education in motion systems with a strong desire to grow in this area. Significant control systems experience is highly desirable. Several years of development experience with high speed, high precision machinery. The ideal candidate will have experience in modeling and optimization of control systems using Matlab or similar tools. Graduate level work in the area of servo controls would be an advantage. SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to apply solid understanding of mechanical design methods to generate creative and innovative solutions to strategic development projects. Good problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary, as well as basic knowledge of materials and production methods. The ability to understand and apply personal knowledge to new and unique situations, and to be able to work independently are required. Understanding of mechatronics (mechanisms that combine mechanical, electrical, and software) aspect of a servo/motion control system. A solid grasp of control system analysis techniques.
